Question 2 of 2

Please note how many times in 3:3 the word “verily” is used. The more times times it is used the more important the verse and what it says.

The man to whom Jesus was speaking in this passage expressed confusion over a second birth. Jesus clarified this point in John 3:5-6 by contrasting the first birth (“born of water” which is explained in vs. 6 as “born of the flesh”) with the necessary second birth – to be born “of the Spirit.” Thus, despite the different terminology, being “born again” and being “regenerated” are referring to essentially the same thing – at the moment of salvation the Holy Spirit gives eternal LIFE to the new believer!
